PHILISTIA (PALESTINE). Gaza (?). Mid 5th century-333 BC. Rb' (Silver, 14 mm, 4.14 g, 9 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; to left and right of the ethnic, Aramaic letters. Gitler & Tal -, cf. V18T (differing letters). Jeselsohn -, cf. 86-87 (single Aramaic letter). Extremely rare. Slightly rough, otherwise, very fine.

Typically, the Aramaic letter Mem appears on these coins, either singly or in pairs. However, on this piece, it seems to be a different letter or perhaps a mirrored Mem.
